SUMMARY OF PAST MEETINGS
XVI Annual Scientific Meeting “NEW HORIZONS OF CARDIOMETABOLISM”
Place: Hotel Abasto, Capital Federal
Date: September 26 and 27, 2019
On September 26 and 27, the XVI Annual Scientific Conference of the Argentine Society of Lipids was held in the City of Buenos Aires: "New Horizons of cardiometabolism". We were pleased to have the presence of Professor Bruno Vergés, from Dijon (France) who addressed two current topics: "Therapeutic place of PCSK9 inhibitors in clinical practice, according to the 2019 evidence". and “News on the pathophysiology and therapeutics of type 2 diabetic dyslipidemia”.
In addition, during the event, 6 thematic tables were held, with 15 coordinators and 20 exhibitors, from different places in Argentina: Salta, Córdoba, Mar del Plata, Resistencia, Rosario, Formosa and Buenos Aires, with representatives of public and private institutions. It was attended by 146 registrants from different specialties: doctors, biochemists, students, graduates and postdoctoral professionals.
This year the “digital poster” modality was replaced by the presentation of free works with final debate and the awarding of prizes for the best clinical and biochemical work.
This year the new SAL-2019 guides were presented, these conferences allowed an enriching academic and scientific debate, so we hope to meet at the XVII Annual Scientific Conference of 2020, which will take place on October 1 and 2. of the year 2020.

Place: Hotel Holiday Inn, Córdoba Capital
Date: July 26, 2019
On Friday, July 26, 2019, the 2nd International and Intersocietal Conference was held in the city of Córdoba: "New horizons in Lipids, Diabetes and Heart". Organized by the Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism of Córdoba (SEMCO), Argentine Federation of Cardiology (FAC), CONICET and by the Argentine Society of Lipids (SAL). It was a complete, interesting, enriching event with a great multidisciplinary exchange, focused on cardiovascular risk arising from lipid disorders caused by type 2 diabetes. With the participation of two foreign guests, Dr. René Valeró (Marseille-France) and Dr. Rodrigo Alonso (Chile) who joined the distinguished speakers invited, members of the entities in charge of the organization, who gave presentations of a high scientific and academic level. Dr. Cúneo (Salta), Dr. Caferatta (Bs. As) and from Córdoba: Dr. Lorezatti, Dr. Majul, Dr. de Loredo, Dr. Luque, Dr. Baroni and Dr. Bartolacci.
During Dr. Valeró's presentations, a simultaneous translation was provided by Dr. Juan Patricio Nogueira (current president of SAL): Role of the intestine in Cardiovascular Disease in patients with DBT 2 and Effects of metabolic surgery on dyslipidemia in DBT 2. Dr. Alonso was in charge of closing the Conference and developed the management of Residual Cardiovascular Risk.
The excellent organization and support of the sponsors should be highlighted: Baliarda, Boehringer Ingelheim, Novo Nordisk, Gador, AstraZeneca and AMGEM.
FIRST INTERNATIONAL AND INTERSOCIETY CONFERENCE: NEW HORIZONS IN LIPIDS, DIABETES AND HEART. (July 21 and 22, 2017)
The Argentine Society of Lipids (SAL) in conjunction with CONICET and the National University of Formosa (UNAF), organized the "First International and Intersocietal Conference: New Horizons in Lipids, Diabetes and Heart" that was held in the City of Formosa, from July 21 to July 22, 2017.
This International Day of joint organization was attended by the Professor/Doctor Rene Valero, current Head of the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition Service at La Concepción Hospital in Marsella, France.
Professor Valero is a world leader in the area of diabetes and dyslipidemia, these two pathologies being the leading causes of death in the Western world.
The program included leading opinion analyses, debates, round table discussions, in order to discuss new advances in the fields of diabetes, cardiology and lipid metabolism.
The objective of this Conference was to offer continuing medical education opportunities to clinicians, endocrinologists, diabetologists, generalists and cardiologists, within this framework of educational symposiums, workshops and scientific sessions, oral communications and panels.
In this "new era" of cardiometabolism, great efforts were made in conjunction with the Organizing Committee in order to develop a Conference that meets the demands of the attending physician.

Summary of the XV Annual Scientific Meeting
The XV Annual Scientific Meeting of the Argentine Society of Lipids was held in the City of Buenos Aires on September 20 and 21, 2018.
The Abasto Hotel, located in the traditional Buenos Aires neighborhood of Abasto, was the venue for the event, and was attended by 227 people enrolled in different specialties (see table), including doctors, students, graduates, nurses, doctors and postdoctoral professionals, who filled the halls of the hotel throughout two days. Professionals from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Uruguay signed up for the event, transforming it into a true international meeting, which also had the sponsorship of the International Atherosclerosis Society.
During the Meeting, 28 conferences were held, distributed in 9 round tables, keynote sessions and discussion workshops, and a poster session in which original works were presented, activities that brought together the latest developments in lipidology, and also the practical knowledge that each one of the attendees was able to take it to apply in their daily exercise. We had the presence of two foreign guests, along with 7 speakers from the provinces and 19 from the City of Buenos Aires, who spoke about the new treatments available and under investigation, the usefulness of imaging studies, recent advances in biochemical studies, the approach to dyslipidemia in children and how to deal with difficult cases, among other topics addressed.
The challenges for next year: to implement new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in a complex scenario, to advance in the clarification of complex dyslipidemias, and especially, to continue promoting this cordial and scientific meeting between colleagues to advance in the knowledge of lipidology. We invite you to join the Argentine Society of Lipids.
